StagingConnections Sydney Event Director, Chris Lewis, talks SHOWcraft for events. How you can introduce extra WOW factor through living environments, live screen interaction, impressive presentation content and more...
As our friends @StagingConnections help us delve into the world of audio visual equipment and event services lingo, to reveal exactly what the techs are talking about - we take a look at the event lighting effect the 'gobo' and the many different shapes, patterns and logo’s they can replicate.
The possibilities are endless but what do you need to know before creating a customised gobo?
Guest blogs from our friends @StagingConnections aim to help demystify the world of audio visual equipment and event services speak.
This week they take a look at the key event communication tool 'In Ears'. You have most likely seen performers on stage using them to hear their instruments or TV presenters listening for cues from backstage directors. They are also used in corporate events as an effective on stage tool to help enhance the delivery for on stage talent, giving them the confidence to deliver a great performance.

Nothing is more inspiring or persuasive than true passion.
You just cannot fake sincerity but you certainly can put people off by trying to...
We humans have been fascinated with creating art that fools our eyes and transports us physically since the beginning of civilisation. From perspective tricks in murals to the fake windows on blank building walls of the trompe l’oeil tradition, we delight in deceiving our senses.
Now, in the 21st century, 2D and 3D projection mapping are the latest tools of this grand tradition, and are available to you to transform your events in ways that are only limited by your imagination...
From a technical point of view, "Speakers Prep" is a service which helps your conference run smoothly by looking after all your speaker needs before, during and after the event.
Before a conference or function starts, speakers can be provided with a unique email so they can provide their presentations ahead of the event direct to the organiser/venue/technicians running the conference...
So you have found the perfect venue for your next event, now you need to start to think about the room layout and in particular the seating style for your audience.
You have invited your audience to communicate a message, so it’s important that your audience is seated in the best way to achieve the maximum impact for your message!
Your business has a Facebook page, a Twitter account and a LinkedIn presence. Depending on your market sector, you might also be on Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+ or any of the other geographic, professional or language-specific social networks. Marketing on social media might be second-nature to your organisation, but integrating social into a living, breathing real-time event adds a dimension that takes a new level of thought and management to succeed.
Using social media as an integral part of your event is so much more than sending event invitations on Facebook or tweeting a URL to register. A vertically integrated social media strategy based around a live event can provide real R.O.I. before, during and a long time after the fact. What you need to be clear about is who your audience are, which networks they’re on, and what they’re prepared to do for you.
On a stage in the not too distant future, a presenter steps up to speak. The walls behind and around the audience come to life with three dimensional visuals introducing her and the company she represents. As she begins speaking, she swipes her hand above a tablet device with a long gesture that ends with her palm facing the back wall. A graph seems to fly from the device to the wall, enlarging as it moves. She asks the audience a question, and the attendees respond via their handheld devices. The graph changes instantly. Remote audiences watching on a huge range of different media responded to the same prompt...
While that may sound like a particularly stylised movie scene, all of the technology that makes it possible already exists and is being used in some form in presentations every day. Presentation technology is advancing constantly, with the goal of making human communication more engaging, more effective and capable of communicating complex ideas succinctly. This blog from a VenueShop national key partner, Staging Connections, examines emerging trends in presentation applications, equipment and techniques to help you prepare for the coming dramatic shift in audience expectations.
When you’re preparing an audio visual budget for your event, there’s a lot more to think about than simply how much money to allocate for theming, lights, sound and vision. To ensure you’re getting the most value for money from your event’s AV design, a solid knowledge of the capabilities of both technology and your audio visual company are essential.
And who better to ask that one of national key partners at TheVenueShop - Staging Connections! Here, they give you their top 8 audiovisual tips for creating a successful event...
As event management is an area of the industry so many aspire to, or are at least intrigued by, we thought our clients may appreciate a glimpse into the world of events from the "other side". So in collaboration with one of our VenueShop national key partners, Staging Connections, we are pleased to share this "Day in the life of..."

"Wanted to say thank you so much for the great service and your patience with all our changes throughout. We all really enjoyed the conference, everything was perfect! (Well maybe the coffee machine struggled to keep up with us, but overall, everything was great). The venue set up and lunch was great - the buffet really enjoyable, especially the variety of catering offered.
As always, absolutely delicious with amazing feedback from all who tried the product! Beautifully packaged up for us, delivery process fast and reliable, and Nicole couldn't have been more helpful in turning around such a large order on such short notice ensuring we had everything needed for the trade show... Think I have a new favourite flavour too, the Rocky Road is to die for!!
"The events team at Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach are truly professionals at what they do. The organisation in particular of the banquets team - always so helpful and ensure that our seminars run smoothly. The only minor suggestion that I would make is more labels to indicate the types salads and sandwiches that are on offer on lunch buffets."
"Whilst I do not attend these meetings to see the room in person, I certainly had no complaints from any of my management team (no news good news!) The communication from the event co-ordinator in particular was excellent prior to our meeting. It was organised at short notice and she showed such high attention to detail which I really appreciated."
"The room was appropriately presented, with everything we had requested already in place. Morning tea and lunch were more than ample, and was 'yummy'! Really good quality and great value for money. One of the managers even said it’s been the best external meeting venue he’s been to in a while."
"We held our Staff Christmas party at Dockside this year - the venue, as well as the staff, location & atmosphere was second to none. From the moment I booked the venue, the service was fantastic. The event organiser kept in contact throughout the year, reminding when things needed to be done. Everything went smoothly on the night of the party, the food was amazing, the staff were excellent & the event manager on the night bent over backwards to help with...
