Conference & Event Styling Trends for 2015
Each year we see the effect of what’s "hot" in Hollywood washing up here on our own shores. So to most of us, it would be no surprise to see that the event themes of last year so dominated by the much loved Great Gatsby. Pop culture has influence over almost every facet of society, and of course, events are no exception. Wondering what may be in store for event themes in 2015? We suspect it will be more than "a few of shades of grey!" The stylists at Staging Connections have it all covered - from brilliant blues to florals and metallics - 2015 is certainly looking to be one exciting year on the event styling front!
Take a closer look with the talented Georgia Strachan - a Queensland based Event Stylist, reveals more on what we can expect to see on the event circuit throughout 2015...
Event Trend: Shades of Grey
In a move away from heavily-styled themes, is a new wave of event styling – simple, sophisticated and subtle tones with pops of bright and bold colours. With the domination of home improvement shows like ‘The Block’ on our TV screens, clientele are becoming increasingly educated on styling strategies, and as a result, placing more emphasis on simple designs than large-scale theming. Incorporating grey tones into event designs allows you to emphasise important details. However, whilst clean and simple event styling can create an air of sophistication at your event, if you are after more "dynamic impact", then we recommend perhaps opting for a themed Immersive Event.
Event Trend: Immersive Events
As technology plays an ever-increasing role in the way our events are brought to life, we have been moving away from 2D cut-out props and conventional sit down dinners over recent years, in favour of more interactive, dynamic and content-based theming. These are called 'Immersive Events’ - challenging attendees to get up, move around, think outside the square and really get into the spirit of the event. Immersive Events focus more heavily on Technical Creative Production using larger scaled digital screens to house various forms of content and bring your event to life....
Event Trend: Metallics
Out with the gold and in with the metallic! In 2015, we will see the classic gold and silver being joined by copper, pewter and bronze as the new metallics. From glomesh style glitz to understated matte finishes, we are likely to be seeing metallics on everything, from linens and centrepieces, to sets and stage concepts.
Event Trend: Brilliant Blues
Blues, blues, blues... BLUE is the new black. From indigo to the classic navy, dark blues are the favourite of the season - replacing black as the go-to colour, especially for formal dinner looks and event styling. Adding a crisp modern twist, or a nautical Hamptons-style flavour to lunches, weddings and casual events - particularly when teamed with vintage glass and white-washed timber.
Event Trend: Floral Sensations
Back in vogue, Florals are definitely making an impact. Watercolour pastels and Monet-like painterly effects, even almost psychedelic prints... stylist advise you to steer clear of liberty and chintz, instead embrace the flower power! Florals are being integrated in event themes in so many creative, innovative ways – ceiling installations, paper decorations, table linens, stunning centrepieces... even via projection mapping using the lighting.
The Staging Connection stylists search the globe for what’s trending so they are able to stay ahead of the game. Inspiration comes to them in all shapes and sizes, from what’s happening in the worlds of fashion, movie and music, to drawing from website designs and homewares.
